Trials were conducted using 3 species: native muscovy duck, native guinea fowl and the naked neck chicken. Two populations were established with the first two species, with animals collected from different farmers. The naked neck gene (NA) was taken from native fowl and afterwards introduced by upgrading in the Leghorn and Plymouth Rock breeds of poultry. The associations between the NA gene and different productive and reproductive characters were studied.
