Relationships among some body measurements, daily milk yield and milk composition in Jersey x Local (F1) cows of Assam

The aim of this study was to determine if there exists any association between body measurements and production to facilitate selection of animals for higher yield. Records on 120 Jersey x Local (F1) cows collected from October 1979 to May 1980 in the Guwahati milk shed areas were utilized in the study. The averages of body length, heart girth, paunch girth, and distance from posterior attachment of the udder to the lower tip of vulva increased gradually from first to the fourth lactation.
