Seasonal variation of essential nutrients in the leaves and twigs and the mineral nutrition in oak trees (Quercus cerris L. and Q. frainetto Ten.)

The nutritional status of 30- and 90-year-old Quercus cerris and 40- and 90-year-old Q. frainetto was investigated, using leaves and current twigs. Levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur and magnesium decreased during the growth season, while calcium increased. Copper, manganese, iron and zinc levels decreased in leaves.
