Spinose ear tick as the cause of an incident of painful otitis externa

A case of a 15-year-old girl from Pretoria, South Africa, who was diagnosed with a painful otitis externa is presented. Irrigation of the ear canal flushed out an Otobius megnini nymph and immediate relief was noted.
