Status and future trends of process instrumentation and control



International Sugar Journal 105(1252): 168-171



This paper clarifies issues involved in process instrumentation in cane or beet sugar factories and provides an overview of the concept of plant-wide integration. It describes developments in the linking of instruments to the control system (using a shared 'bus' cable to reduce the amount of cabling) and in automation, with a particular mention of the Siemens 'Totally integrated automation' system.
