A permanent plot (100x100 m) was established in a mixed Norway spruce (Picea abies), larch (Larix decidua) and stone pine (Pinus cembra) stand in the Paneveggio forest (Trento, Italy) in the spring of 1994. The plot is situated in a forest reserve which was established for long term forest ecology monitoring, along with 3 other plots selected to represent the most common forest type and structures in the Paneveggio forest.
