Studies on certain pathological aspects of rhizome rot and wilt of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc) in Bundelkhand Region

Isolation, and microscopic and pathogenic examinations of the inoculum from rhizome wilt- and rot-infected ginger from the growing areas of Bundelkhand region viz., Lalitpur, Baruasagar, Tikamgarh, Datia, Panna, Chattarpur and Pichore in Madhya Pradesh, India were carried out. Based on the micropscopic observations of the micro and macroconidia of the inoculum, the species causing rhizome rot and wilt in ginger was identified as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. zingiberi.
