Studies on the germination of teliospore of four smut fungi

Studies on the germination of teliospore of four smut fungi

Journal of Mycopathological Research 41(1): 51-54

Teliospore germination were studied in Cintractia axicola, Farysia americana, Sporisorium sorghi and Ustilago cynodontis under various temperature (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 degrees C) and pH (4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) regimes. Among the temperature regimes, 25 degrees C was the most suitable for all the four species, followed by 20 degrees C except in case of C. axicola, for which the next best temperature was 30 degrees C.
