Studies on toxicity, anti-stress and hepato-protective properties of Kombucha tea

The objective of the study was to evaluate toxicity, anti-stress activity and hepato-protective properties of Kombucha tea (K-tea), consists of a symbiotic colony of yeast and bacteria resembling a jelly fish. Yeast belonging to Brettanomyces, Zygosaccharomyces and Saccharomyces have been identified in colonies of K-tea. K-tea was fed orally for 15 days using three different doses, i.e. normal dose (1.6 ml/kg body weight), five and ten times the dose.
