Subsequent effect of root production method on the yield and quality of witloof chicory in the hydroculture

Vegetable Crops Research Bulletin 57: 29-35

The yield and quality of chicory Magnum F1, cultivated at 150 000, 225 000, or 300 000 plants/ha on ridges (67. 5 cm apart with double rows 10 cm apart) or on flat plots under irrigated (when the soil water exceeded 40 kPa) or rainfed conditions were studied in Skierniewice, Poland, during 1997-99. In general, ridging and crop density did not significantly affect chicory yields, whereas irrigation increased yields.
