Abstract
This study was conducted to determine survival ability, growth and some body measurements in Awassi and Awassi x East Friesian lambs. It was shown that average birth weight, 105th day weaning weight and survival were 4.15 and 4.64 kg, 15.39 and 18.31 kg and 82.61 and 86.96% for Awassi and crossbred lambs, respectively. Average body length, chest circumference and withers height were 63.40 and 73.90 cm, 92.80 and 104.20 cm and 61.10 and 66.50 cm for 1-year-old Awassi and crossbred lambs, respectively. These results indicate that birth and 105th day body weights were increased by crossbreeding. In conclusion, crossbreeding Awassi and East Friesian sheep increases economical benefits.
