The effect of the photoperiod and gibberellic acid (GA3), on pollen germination and deformation and stamen length was studied in young strawberry (cv. Seascape) plants in two experiments. In Exp. 1, plants were sprayed with GA3 at 50 or 200 mgL-1, in the middle of December and then grown under natural early spring light conditions in an unheated greenhouse. In Exp. 2, plants were treated with GA3 as above and then were subject to either short day (SD) or long day (LD) regimes.
