The sources of yellow rust, leaf rust and stem rust resistance in the Polish wheat breeding materials

Reaction of wheat to infection by Puccinia striiformis, P. graminis and P. recondita has been studied under field conditions. Spring and winter genotypes originated from 4 and 10 breeding stations, respectively. Almost all out of 500 winter cultivars and breeding lines were resistant to yellow rust. On the contrary, among spring wheats predominated the susceptible ones. The examined plant population indicated a high level of susceptibility to infection by P. graminis and P. recondita.
