The use of regional analysis of tourism resources for destination zone identification in Croatia

The use of regional analysis of tourism resources for destination zone identification in Croatia

Tourism Zagreb 50(2): 157-164

This paper deals with the regionalization of Croatia in the context of tourism. There are currently 8 tourism regions in Croatia formed based on administrative division, product similarities, and some political considerations. It is argued in this paper that much more effective regionalization could be achieved based on the assessment of natural and man-made attractions and stage of tourism development. To that end, a pilot survey of tourism experts in the country was conducted.
