Tracking and weighing of fresh fruit bunches in oil palm estates

This paper reports the results of a field evaluation of two Global Positioning System (GPS) based tracking systems for monitoring fresh fruit bunches (ffb) in an oil palm estate. A desktop study on two weighing systems based on hydraulic pressure and load cells is also reported. The two GPS-based tracking systems evaluated comprised a locally assembled Automatic Vehicle Tracking System (AVTS) and a GPS receiver manually operated by a technician.
