Trichomonas gallinae in an expanding population of white-winged doves from Texas

Trichomonas gallinae in an expanding population of white-winged doves from Texas

Southwestern Naturalist 46(2): 234-237

Fledged juvenile and adult white-winged doves (Zenaida asiatica asiatica) were collected by shooting in Texas, USA between 12 June and 19 September 1997. Each dove was examined for the presence of oral lesions caused by T. gallinae; 171 doves were sampled. None of the birds showed any signs of trichomoniasis when initially examined. However, all but one tested positive for T. gallinae using the InPouch TF diagnostic pouch.
