Use of a portable real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction assay for rapid detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus

Use of a portable real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction assay for rapid detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 220(11): 1636-1642

Objective: To evaluate a portable real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay designed to detect all 7 viral serotypes (A12, O-BFS, C3, Asia 1, SAT-1, SAT-2 and SAT-3) of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). Design: Laboratory and animal studies. Study Population: Viruses grown in tissue culture and animals experimentally infected with FMDV.
