The NIRS method was used to determine the chemical composition of green maize, and was compared with other laboratory chemical methods. The samples (n=179) were collected from 1995-98. The calibration and validity statistics for determining the chemical composition of green maize using NIRS were satisfactory; the correlation values ranged from 0.83 to 0.95.
