A study was conducted focusing on the variation in the fibre morphology of triploid clones and a normal clone of Populus tomentosa using fibre automatic analytical apparatus KAJANNI and XWY2 to choose the best P. tomentosa clone and ascertain their best maturity. Results indicated that fibre length increased rapidly at young stage. The fibre length reached the maximum at approximately 5-7 years and then becomes stable. Fibre width ranges from 25-30 micro m.
