Waterlogging and salinity: management by subsurface drainage

Natural Resource Management 6(Special issue): 41-51

The main methods of subsurface drainage and its disposal implemented in the New South Wales Murray, Murrumbidgee and Coleambally Irrigation Areas in Australia, include shallow groundwater pumping, deep groundwater pumping and horizontal 'tile' drainage. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages and has been adopted according to the particular circumstances of each area.
