Whole cellular fatty acid analysis using gas liquid chromatography and SDS-PAGE analysis of whole cellular proteins were performed for differentiation of Xanthomonas campestris pathovars and X. oryzae pv. oryzae. X. campestris pathovars and X. oryzae pv. oryzae were differentiated based on the contents of four kinds fatty acids, viz. myristoleic acid (14:1 cis 9), palmitic acid (16:0), palmitoleic acid (16:1 cis 9) and one unidentified fatty acid (Un-1).
