Colonies of A. mellifera were screened for variability in terms of tolerance to the ectoparasitic mite, T. clareae under natural conditions of Bajauru, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India, during 1994-96. Of the 33 colonies observed, one was found free from mite incidence, while the extent of brood infestation in the other colonies varied from 0.56 to 26.57%.
