Accumulation of salicylic acid in cucumber treated with glucohexaose and its relation to systemic acquired resistance against cucumber downy mildew

In a pot experiment, glucohexaose induced resistance in cucumber to cucumber downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis). The disease incidence was lower by 65.40% in treated plants than in the control when glucohexaose was applied 3 times. Reversed phase HPLC analysis of the salicylic acid (SA) content of plants treated with glucohexaose 3 times revealed the presence of a peak at one day after treatment (DAT), and the SA content of these plants was higher than that of the control at 8 DAT.
