Antiviral activity of cepharanthine against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus in vitro

Antiviral activity of cepharanthine against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus in vitro

Chinese Medical Journal 118(6): 493-496

In an experiment conducted to determine the antiviral activity of cepharanthine (extracted and purified from Stephania cepharantha) against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in vitro, cepharanthine was applied at 1.56, 3.13, 6.25, 12.50, 25, 50 and 100 micro g/ml. Cepharanthine at 10 micro g/ml showed potent anti-SARS-CoV activities.
