Barley growth and labor-saving efficiency as using barley seeder synchronized with rice harvesting

The effect of barley sowing synchronized with rice harvesting on barley growth and on labour saving efficiency was investigated. Barley sowing was done at 5 days earlier than in the conventional system. The germinating seeds were protected from drought by the covering of rice straw. The number of spikes per m2 was lower than that in the conventional system, but plants under the synchronized method showed longer culm length, higher number of kernels per spike and higher 1000-kernel weight.
