An interspecific F1 between short day Japanese bunching onion (Allium fistulosum) and onion (A. cepa) was developed and hybridity was confirmed based on two isoenzyme markers (Adh and Mdh). The results of the meiotic analysis of the F1 revealed that parental accessions of these two species differed from each other in terms of three paracentric inversions.
