Comparative efficiency of different green manures in improving yield and nutrition of rice

Comparative efficiency of different green manures in improving yield and nutrition of rice

Haryana Agricultural University Journal of Research 34(1): 71-74

ISSN/ISBN: 0379-4008

Vigna radiata, Sesbania aculeata and sunn hemp as green manures, and 4 N rates (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg/ha) were evaluated in Hisar, Haryana, India, for their effects on rice yield and nutrient uptake. The green manure crops were buried in the field one week before transplanting. V. radiata resulted in the greatest increase in rice yield per unit of dry matter added (500 kg), followed by sunn hemp (333.3 kg) and S. aculeata (285.7 kg).
