Comparative study on polypeptides of mitochondria and chloroplast between the male cytoplasmic sterile line and its maintainer line in tuber mustard (Brassica juncea Coss. var. tumida)
The mitochondria or chloroplast polypeptides of tuber mustard (B. juncea var. tumida) cytoplasmic male sterile lines (CMS) and maintainers (MF) at different growth stages were analysed using SDS-PAGE. A specific polypeptide band (37 kD) was observed in the mitochondria (at all 3 stages) in CMS, which was not present in the MF. Another polypeptide (35 kD) was observed only in the mitochondria of the CMS lines during the anther stage.
