Complications of intravenous injections and infusions in horses

The following complications of intravenous injections and infusions in horses were studied: perivenous haematoma, venous thrombosis, periphlebitis (aseptic, suppurative and with abscess formation), and thrombophlebitis. Other potentially fatal complications of improper intravenous drug administrations are accidental intraarterial injections, overdosage and intravenous administration of drugs intended for parenteral medication.
