The presence of anti-N. caninum antibodies were investigated by IFAT in a total of 190 human sera, of which 56 were anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG positive, 70 were anti-T. gondii IgM positive, and 6 were anti-T. gondii IgG and IgM ELISA (Abbott IMX system) positive. Of the 190 sera, 58 were negative. N. caninum tachyzoites that had been cultured in Vero cell lines were used as antigen in IFAT. A titre of 1:50 was accepted as the cut-off point.
