Determination of LC50 of spinosad and thiodicarb against red hairy caterpillar, Amsacta albistriga (Walker)

Groundnut leaves were dipped in solutions of spinosad (0.0025, 0.005, 0.025, 0.01, 0.05, 0.075 and 0.1%) and thiodicarb (0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075 and 0.1%) for 2 minutes and air-dried. Third-instar larvae of A. albistriga were allowed to feed on the treated leaves in petri dishes for 12 h. After feeding, fresh leaves were supplied for 3 days, then larval mortality was evaluated. The LC50 values of spinosad and thiodicarb were 0.0106 and 0.018%, respectively.
