Direct effect of fertilizers and residual effect of organic manures on yield and economics of maize (Zea mays L.) in groundnut-maize cropping system

Field experiments were conducted during the kharif season of 2002 at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka, India, to test the effect of direct and residual fertilizers on maize. There were two direct fertilizer treatments and 12 residual fertilizer treatments. Among the direct fertilizer treatments, the recommended dose of fertilizer recorded significantly higher grain, stover and protein yield compared to soil test crop response (STCR) approach.
