Effect of corm size and spacing on growth, flowering and corm production in gladiolus



Journal of Ornamental Horticulture New Series 6(4): 352-356



The effects of corm size (3.1-3.5, 3.6-4.0, 4.1-4.5 and 4.6-5.0 cm) and spacing (10x40, 20x40, 30x40 and 40x40 cm) on the growth and flowering of gladiolus were determined in a field experiment conducted in Haryana, India during 1997-99. Plant height, number of leaves per plant, spike length, number of florets per spike and number of spike per plant increased, whereas the number of days to spike emergence and blooming decreased with increasing corm size.
