Effect of potassium fertilization on growth, yield and yield attributes of groundnut, Arachis hypogaea L. cultivars in new Alluvial zone of West Bengal

A field experiment was conducted during the 2000/01 summer and wet seasons in West Bengal, India, to determine the optimum rate (0, 60 and 120 kg/ha) of potassium fertilizer on the growth and yield of groundnut cultivars SB-11, ICGS-49, ICGS-44, ICGV-86699, B-95, TG-22 and JL-24. Potassium at 60 kg/ha significantly increased plant height, number of pods per plant, number of kernels per pod, 100 kernel weight, harvest index, and pod and haulm yield.
