Effect of sowing date and plant population on biomass, grain yield and yield components of wheat

An experiment was conducted in Faisalabad, Pakistan, during 1998/99 and 1999/2000 to study the effect of sowing date (10 November, 25 November and 10 December) and plant population (200, 300 and 400 plants m-2) on biomass, grain yield and yield components of wheat. The early sowing (10 November) gave higher grain yield over late sowing (10 December) by 60.6%. The differences in grain yield between 10 November and 25 December sowing were also significant (45%).
