A study was conducted during 2000-03 on silty clay loam soil (Hapludalfs) of Shalimar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, to determine sowing time, seed rate and cutting frequency of berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum). Berseem sown on 15 September under temperate conditions of Kashmir recorded highest values of growth characters (leaf ratio, root length, nodule number and weight/plant), fresh and dry herbage than those planted on 25 September and 5 October.
