Effect of temperature on the starch grain development and endosperm transparency of medium indica hybrid rice during the period of grain filling

Potted rice var. indica hybrids were subjected to 26/22 or 36/30 degrees C under greenhouse conditions to determine the effects of temperature on the grain water, starch and soluble sugar content; enzyme activity and morphological characteristics of the rice grains. Starch grain development and endosperm transparency were not affected at 26/22 degrees C but decreased at 36/30 degrees C.
