Abstract
To determine the effects of different additives on the quality of whole-plant corn and green corn stover silage, Lactobacillus spp. and enzymes were used singly or in combination to prepare the raw material for silage making. The sensory quality and aerobic stability of the silage were evaluated. It was shown that the sensory evaluations of whole-plant corn and green corn stover silage treated with additives were better than the untreated control silage. When both Lactobacillus spp. and enzymes were added, the contents of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF) decreased and the digestibility of the silage improved. Lactobacillus1 and Lactobacillus1 + enzyme1 treatments also significantly improved the aerobic stability of the silage.
