Effects of plant density on the yield and yield components of two winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) cultivars

A field experiment was conducted on silty clay loam soil at the research station of Shiraz University Agricultural College, Iran during 2000/2001 on to study the effects of three plant densities (30, 50, and 70 plants/m2) on the yield and yield components of two winter rapeseed (B. napus) cultivars (Talayeh and Okapi). Increasing the plant density from 30 to 70 plants/m2 reduced the number of pods per plant and branching in both cultivars, but increased plant height.
