Effects of postharvest treatment with 1-MCP on ripening and softening of persimmon fruits

The effects of postharvest treatment with 1-MCP on persimmon fruits (Diospyros kaki Huoshi) were investigated. The results showed that 1-MCP treatment significantly decreased ethylene evolution, delayed appearing time of ethylene peak, ACO (ACC oxidase (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate oxidoreductase)) activity peak and respiration peak, and inhibited ACO activity and respiration rate in early postharvest; as kept fruit firmness and increased percentage of firm fruits.
