One-d-old (n=20) broiler chickens of the Shaver Star Bro strain were randomly and equally divided into four groups (A, B, C and D), with 5 chickens per group. Chickens in Groups B, C and D were fed a commercial ration plus either 1, 2 or 3 g probiotics (Protexin Boost), respectively, per 10 litres drinking water, from 1-35 d of age. Group A served as control. Liveweight gains corresponded to the different treatments and varied significantly (P<0.01) at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks of age. Meat yield did not differ significantly among treatments; however, differences in weights of bursa fabricii were significant (P<0.05) among groups.
