Effects of two terms of pruning on tree vigour, yields and fruit weight of sweet cherries

Effects of two terms of pruning on tree vigour, yields and fruit weight of sweet cherries

Vedecke Prace Ovocnarske (19): 57-65

Tree pruning in two different terms (March and August) was applied for 3 years in five-year-old sweet cherry orchard of 'Kordia', 'Techlovan' and 'Vanda' cultivars planted on Colt and P-HL-A rootstocks in a dense spacing 6x1.5 m. In this work an influence of these two experimental variants was evaluated on tree vigour, yields and mean fruit weight. The summer pruning had mostly a marked influence on reducing the canopy volume. This growth reduction was more distinct with trees on Colt.
