The efficiency of different pheromones (Ferrolure+, Ferrolure and Tripheron) in trapping the red palm weevil (R. ferrugineus) was investigated during 2000-02 at Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Pheromone traps were set every 2 ha and the 3 types of lures were interchanged 15 10-day intervals to avoid the place effect. Ferrolure+ attracted the most number of weevils (572), followed by Ferrolure (243) and Tripheron (196).
