Efficiency of feces and urine separation under slatted floors: assessment and by-products

Efficiency of feces and urine separation under slatted floors: assessment and by-products

Techni Porc 28(4): 35-39, 2

This study evaluated the efficiency of a V-shaped scraper system used to separate pigs' faeces and urine under slatted floors. On average, the system concentrated 91% phosphorus, 66% total nitrogen, 37% ammonia nitrogen, 60% potassium, 94% organic material and over 95% of metals in a solid fraction that contained 33.7% dry material. The solid fraction corresponded to 42% of the total output mass.
