Efficiency of prostaglandin F2 alpha in the induction of physiological oestrus in Zebu cattle

Efficiency of prostaglandin F2 alpha in the induction of physiological oestrus in Zebu cattle

Journal of Sustainable Agriculture and the Environment 1(1): 114-118

This study was conducted to determine the ability of prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2 alpha ) to induce physiological oestrus in cycling Zebu heifers. Six nulliparous Bunaji heifers aged between 3 and 4 years and weighing 196-219 kg were used. Two intramuscular injections of PGF2 alpha (Lutalyse, 25 mg/animal each time) were administered 11 days apart. Blood samples for sera were collected by jugular venipuncture and analysed for progesterone by radioimmunoassay.
