The hydrodistilled essential oil of ginger (Zingiber officinale) rhizomes from three different geographical locations in India, i.e. Mizoram, Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Sikkim, were analysed by GC and GC-MS. Zingiberene (10.5-16.6%) was the major constituent in all essential oils. Quantitative differences in the concentration of the constituents were observed.
