Evaluation of different kinds of activated charcoal used for rice straw hydrolysate detoxification for xylitol production

Evaluation of different kinds of activated charcoal used for rice straw hydrolysate detoxification for xylitol production

Ciencia e Tecnologia de Alimentos 24(1): 94-100

Rice straw hemicellulosic hydrolysate was treated with five kinds of activated charcoal (powdered and granulated) in order to remove, by adsorption, toxic compounds that can act as inhibitors in the bioconversion of xylose to xylitol by Candida guilliermondii.
