Twenty bread wheat cultivars were subjected to irrigation at 10-, 20- and 30-day intervals in a field experiment conducted in Iran during 1998-2000. Grain yield, total biomass, number of spike/m2, harvest index and 1000-kernel weight decreased with increasing irrigation intervals. Water use efficiency was highest with irrigation at 20-day intervals. Grain yield, biological yield and number of spikes/m2 were high in cultivars C-75-6, C-75-10 and C-75-16, regardless of the treatment.
