Genetic analysis on panicle angle and number of spikelets per panicle in japonica rice (Oryza sativa)

The phenotypic distribution of panicle angle and number of spikelets per panicle were investigated in the P1, P2, F1 and F2 generations (in 2002), and in the P1, P2, F1, F2 generations (in 2003) of the cross between Bing 8979 (japonica rice with an erect panicle) and C Bao (japonica with a curved panicle). The genetic analyses for the 2 traits were conducted using major gene-polygene mixed inheritance models and joint analysis method of segregating and non-segregating generations.
