Genetic variance components in populations derived from single cross maize hybrids

Genetic variance components in populations derived from single cross maize hybrids

Revista Brasileira de Milho e Sorgo 3(3): 402-413

The intra- and inter-population genetic variance in the S1 and S0 maize populations derived from AG9012 and C333 single cross combination was studied in a field experiment conducted in Minas Gerais, Brazil during 2000-01. The magnitude of the additive genetic variance was high in both populations. Although both populations recorded variability and inbreeding depression, estimates of dominance variance were negative.
